The Alberta Dental Society of Anesthesiology (ABDSA)
The Alberta Dental Society of Anesthesiology is dedicated to improving public access to safe, patient-centred care by advancing knowledge, education, and support for those providing dental sedation. Support for dentistry includes training and continuing education including articles for sedation dentistry from within Canada and across the world.
The Alberta Dental Society of Anesthesiology is incorporated in the Province of Alberta, Canada. The ABDSA is also a registered component society of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology

Mission
The Mission of the Alberta Dental Society of Anesthesiology is to promote sedation as a safe and essential service in oral healthcare.
Vision
The Vision of the Alberta Dental Society of Anesthesiology is to be a society of trusted leaders to optimize dental sedation practices in oral healthcare while protecting patients’ safety and health rights.
Objectives of the Society
- To advance the science and methodology of dental sedation.
- To promote the safe delivery of dental sedation to the public
- To be a proactive voice for dental sedation within Alberta.
- To liaise between the dental sedation providers and relevant governing bodies.
- To advance and refine the use of pharmaceutical agents and administration methodologies tailored to modern dental procedures and patients’ individual needs.
- To advocate for patients’ rights to reasonable access to safe, effective, and affordable dental sedation.
- To provide educational opportunities in dental sedation for society members, their support teams, and other interested parties.
- To promote good fellowship within the dental profession and with all other organizations and disciplines interested in the advancement of sedation.
