The Use of Target Controlled Infusions with Propofol and Remifentanil for Procedural Sedation in Dentistry

May 15th, 2025 - 6:00 - 8:00 PM Via Zoom.

This webinar offers an overview of target-controlled infusions for procedural sedation in dentistry. You’ll learn about the advantages of TCI compared to traditional methods like intermittent bolusing, including enhanced control of sedation levels, reduced complication risks, and improved patient outcomes with shorter recovery times. Additionally, TCI provides predictability in the complex patient cohorts commonly encountered in the modern dental practice. An opportunity to learn how TCI can enhance your ability to deliver safe and effective moderate sedation in the dental setting.

Learning objectives:

  • Understand how TCI minimizes pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic variability in patients for safer and more predictable sedation.
  • Learn how processed EEG or BIS monitoring using the bi spectral index can be used to make real-time adjustments with TCI.
  • Discover the evolution of TCI algorithms, from older approaches to the advanced algorithms we use today.
  • Learn about the advantages of short-acting drugs for IV sedation in ambulatory settings.
  • Understand the training and team requirements for the safe use of TCI in an outpatient setting.
